The competitors at the Sixth Hannover International Violin Competition, dedicated to Joseph Joachim, have been performing since Sunday before enthusiastic audiences and a top-class international jury. The jurors marked their ballots today at the end of the preliminary rounds and chose the following twelve performers to continue into the semi-finals:
- Erin Keefe (USA, born on May 1st, 1980)
- Leticia Muñoz-Moreno (Spain, born on August 31st, 1985)
- Fanny Clamagirand (France, born on April 12th, 1984)
- Celeste Golden (USA, born on March 26th, 1984)
- Nikita Borisoglebskiy (Russia, born on August 30th, 1985)
- Jung Yoon Yang (Korea, born on March 16th, 1986)
- Zhijiong Wang (PR China, born on August 18th, 1983)
- Artiom Shishkov (Belarus, born on March 9th, 1984)
- Suyoen Kim (Korea, born on November 12th, 1987)
- Hyun-Su Shin (Korea, born on July 16th, 1987)
- Kana Sugimura (Japan, born on May 25th, 1981)
- Jaroslaw Nadrzycki (Poland, born on September 14th, 1984)
Each of these semifinalists will now perform twice. During the mid-day sessions on October 7th, 8th and 9th they will be playing recitals of their own choice. The only required piece is Joseph Joachims op. 2, No. 1 »Romanze«. On the evenings of October 8th, 9th and 10th, each semifinalist will play a Mozart violin concerto together with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio, conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal.
