Sixth Hannover International Violin Competition – The Twelve Semifinalists Chosen

The competitors at the Sixth Hannover International Violin Competition, dedicated to Joseph Joachim, have been performing since Sunday before enthusiastic audiences and a top-class international jury. The jurors marked their ballots today at the end of the preliminary rounds and chose the following twelve performers to continue into the semi-finals:

Each of these semifinalists will now perform twice. During the mid-day sessions on October 7th, 8th and 9th they will be playing recitals of their own choice. The only required piece is Joseph Joachim’s op. 2, No. 1 »Romanze«. On the evenings of October 8th, 9th and 10th, each semifinalist will play a Mozart violin concerto together with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio, conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal.
