The International Preselection Jury convened at the University of Music and Drama Hannover from July 1 – 5, 2009, in order to choose the most talented violinists from among the 129 applicants. The members of the jury reviewed not only the candidates' CVs, repertoires and performance records and the recommendations of their violin teachers, but also DVD recordings from each applicant that had been made especially for the competition, and contained a prescribed repertoire.
Four musicians – personalities equally renowned as artists and as teachers – have chosen this year’s participating violinists.
